Ted Robbins

Ted Robbins is recognised as one of the top TV warm-up act in Britain but if you if you’ve never seen him before a live studio audience, you may recognise Ted from his on-screen appearances in shows such as Brookside, Doctors, Holby City, Merseybeat, Lead Balloon, Little Britain, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and most famously of all, the role of ‘Den Perry’ – the man who burned down the Phoenix club in Peter Kay’s hit show, Phoenix Nights.

Born in Liverpool, Robbins is one of five children and also second cousin of Beatle’s legend, Paul McCartney.

A career in theatre and television has seen him take up a variety of roles from acting through to presenting quiz game shows, including Chain Letters, Quiz Night and Bratpack in addition to being the voice of hit show, Catchphrase, from 1994 – 1999.

Also in the 90s, Ted narrated audio book adaptations of The Railway Stories written by Christopher Awdry, which feature titles such as Thomas the Tank Engine.

Ted lives in the village of Crawshawbooth, Rossendale, Lancashire, with his two children. Currently, Ted presents a weekday morning show on BBC Radio Lancashire from 9am – 11am, if you’re not local to the area you can catch up with him by listening online via the BBC Lancashire site.

Stavros Flatley

The father and son duo, Demetrios and Michalakis, say their act is a fat version of two Michael Flatley’s (of Riverdance fame) with a Greek twist!

Prior to hitting the big time thanks to Britain’s Got Talent, Demetrios, the father of the duo owned a Greek restaurant in London, and the act derives from when he would take centre stage and provide entertainment to his customers after their meal. However, Michalakis had only heard of his Dad’s performances, but never actually seen him in action.

It was Demetrios’ idea to enter Britain’s Got Talent after seeing an advert for the series, upon which, Michalakis offered to join his father on stage to form a double act. Demetrios began teaching Michalakis the routine and he immediately picked up the moves up!

The duo’s appearance at the Britain’s Got Talent auditions was their first big performance and fans loved the act straight away. They came 4th in the competition, receiving over 650,000 votes and have become a sensation with their clips going around the World on YouTube and amassing a huge following on Facebook.

They now do their routine on a full time basis and have travelled the globe, wowing the crowds wherever they go including China, Australia, France, Netherlands, Spain and Cyprus as well as beng increasingly popular in the UK and Ireland.

The Stig – Perry McCarthy

Perry McCarthy is better known as ‘The Stig’ from the hit BBC TV show Top Gear and you can now book Perry to appear at your event, be it for one of his hilarious after dinner speeches or motivational talk.

Perry’s story of how he got in to formula 1 is fascinating and after it was haltered on occasions by a lack of finance, his determination saw him keep alive his dreams becoming a Grand Prix driver. His likeable personality and refusal to concede defeat in his lifetime ambition made him a storied driver and popular with the media. Stories ran in various newspapers about his plight with headlines including ‘a new cult hero’ and ‘the world’s unluckiest racing driver’ by the Telegraph and Times respectively and an article ran in the Sunday Express in America which referred to him as a ‘comedian locked inside a racing driver’s body’.

His dream was fulfilled in 1992 when he had one season driving Forumla One for the Andrea Moda team before later going on to drive in the 24 Hour Le Mans on a number of occasions, driving for Viper and Audi UK amongst others.

His work as ‘The Stig’ catapulted Perry to fame before people even knew who was under the mask of Top Gear’s anonymous driver of high performance cars who wore a black suit. The mystique which surrounded discussion about ‘who is the Stig?’ only added to the character’s popularity. When Perry released his autobiography, revealing his identity he no longer worked on Top Gear but can now be booked to entertain the crowds for any occasion and he really is as interesting and humorous as you’d expect (and more…).

Dennis Taylor

Dennis Taylor is one of the best known names in Snooker after spending 20 years ranked in the top 16 and subsequently became one of the biggest personalities British Sport.

Taylor will be remembered for his 1985 World Championship victory. A record audience for a Snooker match, 18.5 million people watched on the BBC with victory over Steve Davis – claiming the win on the final black of the final frame after coming back from 8-0 down. This saw Dennis Taylor become a huge public figure and went on to appear on various TV chat shows.

Recently, Dennis has become a Snooker commentator for the BBC and still remains best known for his over-sized glasses, although his endearing personality and humour ensures he is great value when making any celebrity appearance. Dennis also appeared on Series 3 of Strictly Come Dancing and can be booked for a host of events from after dinner speak to bespoke events.

Shane Lynch

Shane rose to fame after joining the Boyband, Bozone, in 1993 along with band mates Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Stephen Gately and Mikey Graham.

‘Said and Done’ was the group’s first album was an instant hit in both Ireland and the UK, reaching number one when it was released in 1994. Boyzone’s second album, ‘A Different Beat’ and third album ‘Where We Belong’, followed and were both a huge success, topping the charts in various countries around the world as the band’s popularity went from strength to strength.

When not working with Boyzone, Shane is involved in racing in the British GT Championships, driving the world famous TVR Tuscan T400R.

Shane’s athleticism and character was demonstrated when winning Celebrity TV show, ‘The Games’ in April 2004 and later became took a lead role in TV show, Dream Team where he played millionaire entrepreneur Eli Knox.

After a few year pursuing solo and other projects, Shane together with the other members of Boyzone staged reunion tour in 2008 which selling out 36 venues.

Ricky Whittle

Although born in Oldham near Manchester, Ricky Whittle never settled in one country for longer than 3 years due to his father being in the RAF which involved travelling to different locations around the world during his younger years.

As a keen sportsman, Ricky excelled in a number of field and represented his country as a youth in football, rugby, American football as well as athletics.

As a younger footballer, he was scouted by both Arsenal and Celtic football clubs; however, injury forced Ricky to pursue a Law degree with Criminology at Southampton University for four years. It was during his time at university that he began modelling, becoming the face of a Reebok campaign in the year 2000.

After a successful audition and a lead role in Sky One’s football drama “Dream Team”, Ricky left university to pursue a career as an actor. After two seasons as Dream Team’s “bad boy” Ryan Naysmith, Ricky also appeared in other shows, including BBC One’s “Holby City”.

Ricky finished filming the end of the ninth season of “Dream Team” before signing for Channel 4′s “Hollyoaks” where he played policeman, Calvin Valentine. He appeared in the 2007 Hollyoaks Hunks calendar and for the following three years, he was on the front cover due to his increasing popularity.

Ricky has made several guest appearances as himself on shows including celebrity weakest link, let’s dance for comic relief has been a guest on loose women, 5 oclock show with Peter Andre, Paul O’Grady, the Sunday night project and on Noel’s HQ.

Ricky appeared in the 2009 series of Strictly Come Dancing, finishinh runner up with head judge, Len Goodman, claiming Ricky to be the best he’s ever seen!.

After leaving Hollyoaks in 2010 Ricky is filming the BBC1 comedy show, Candy cabs, which is due to air later in the year.

Lee Dixon

Lee Dixon is one of the greatest defenders in Arsenals history, playing over 600 games in a 14 year spell. The legendary right back won every domestic honour in the English game in the course of his 20-year footballing career.

Lee began his career at Burnley before spells at Chester, Bury and Stoke. His big break was being signed in January 1988 by George Graham, who paid £400,000 to take him to Highbury. Here he was to become part of the legendary Arsenal back four alongside Tony Adams, Steve Bould and Nigel Winterburn who, for over a decade, provided the backbone that led the Gunners to a number of successes. In over 14 years at the club he won two Football League Championship and two Premiership winners’ medals – the latter won as part of the 1998 and 2002 Double years.

International Career

Lee made his England international debut in April 1990 in a World Cup warm-up game against Czechoslovakia. He went on to win another 21 caps for his country.

Lee joined the BBC in 2004 as a pundit on Match of the Day, Football Focus and Match Of The Day 2 and is now one of the most respected former players in the media.

Lee Sharpe

Lee started his career at Torquay United, and after just 16 first team games he was snapped up by Manchester United for a fee of £2000,00, which was a record at the time for a YTS player.

He played a vital role in his first season at Old Trafford in the 1990- 1991 season, helping United to success in the European Cup Winners Cup, and scored a memorable hat-trick away at Arsenal in the League Cup. During eight year at Old Trafford, he scored nearly 40 goals in 265 matches.

Lee was transferred to Leeds United for a fee of 4.5 million prior to the 1996/97 season, making him their record signing, but unfortunately injury restricted him to very few appearances. He had a loan spell at Sampdoria, then followed a permanent move to Bradford City, where he initially helped them to promotion to the Premier League, and the following season they preserved their status in the top flight. A loan spell then followed to Portsmouth, followed by brief spells at Grimsby Town, Exeter City and Grindavik in Iceland, but he then had to curtail his career due to injury at the early age of just 32.

Since his retirement, Lee has developed a career within television, and has appeared on Score, Football Focus and Match of the Day 2 both as a live studio guest and as a features reporter. He was a celebrity contestant on Dancing on Ice, Celebrity Love Island and Celebrity Wrestling, was a co-host for Junior Gladiators and a reporter on Footballers Wives. He also appeared in Ant & Dec’s Saturday night takeaway as part of Team Dec. In 2008 he appeared on Channel 5′s Superstars as a member of Sir Steven Redgraves winning team

Ian Lavender

Ian lavender is an acclaimed English actor best known for his work on the stage, television and in films. He is best known for his role as Private Frankie Pike in the hit TV series, Dad’s Army between 1968 and 1977. Other TV roles include Rising Damp and Eastenders.

His Filmography includes such hits as Carry on Behind, Confessions of a Pop Performer, Not Now COmrade and most recently, he appears in 31 North 62 East.

He is also well known for his Pantomime appearances down the years. His experience in comedy makes for Ian being a fantastic speaker.

Selina Scott
