Jake Humphrey
Jake is the presenter of BBC’s Formula 1 coverage from 2009.
31 year old Jake is the youngest ever presenter to host the hat-trick of BBC Sport programmes Football Focus, Match of the Day and Final Score. In 2008, he joined Sue Barker and Gary Lineker to co-host the BBC Sports Personality of the Year and returns again for 2009 from Sheffield Arena, on Sunday 13th December.
Recent presenting highlights for Jake include the 2008 Olympics from Beijing, Euro 2008, a trip to India for Sport Relief and the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
Jake began his broadcasting career as a runner for Norwich-based Rapture TV. He went on to become a researcher and ended up presenting by accident. He was advised to make a showreel and this eventually led to him hosting a live, daily, sports show for TWI. From here, he joined CBBC and enjoyed six extremely successful years, presenting live links and a number of popular shows. Jake’s interests include writing, reading autobiographies, and travelling. He also loves cars, and supports his much beloved Norwich City.

BBC SPORT CREDITS – 2006 to present:
- Formula One – Jake became the face of Formula One as the sport made it’s much-heralded return to the BBC in 2009.
- Championship Football – presented BBC live coverage of Derby v QPR (Oct ’09).
- Football Focus; Final Score; Match of the Day – Jake started out as a reporter for BBC Sport’s weekend football coverage on BBC1 and BBCi. He presented Football Focus from November ’06 to January ’07 and went on to host Score, Final Score and Match of the Day. Jake also hosts football coverage on BBC3, including the recent Serie A derby between Inter & AC Milan.
- 2008 Beijing Olympics – Jake presented live afternoon coverage of the games on BBC1 & 2 and football coverage on BBC3. Jake also reported from the London leg of the Olympic Torch Relay in the lead up to the games and hosted the Olympics Heroes Parade with Sue Barker, live from Trafalgar Square after the tournament.
- Euro 2008 – presented Football Focus, World Focus, and live games on Match of the Day from Austria and Switzerland for BBC1, BBC3 and BBCi.
- Fifa Women’s World Cup Finals – reported from and presented highlights programmes for BBC2 from Shanghai. Jake also presented live, studio-based coverage of semi-finals. September 2007.

NFL – Super Bowl XLII – NY Giants v New England Patriots – presented BBC’s first coverage of the Super Bowl, live from Arizona on BBC2. Jake also hosts BBC Television’s NFL highlights from Wembley. Past fixtures include Miami Dolphins v New York Giants (2007), live action of New Orleans Saints Vs San Diego Chargers (2008) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers v New England Patriots (2009). - FA Cup Final – ‘Wembley Way’ reporter, May 2007 & 2008.
- FA Women’s Cup Final – presented live action of Arsenal Ladies v Leeds Ladies on BBC1, May 2008 and Arsenal v Charlton in 2007.
- Women’s Euro 2009 Qualifier – England v Czech Republic – presenter, BBC3, March 2008.
- Flora London Marathon – reporter. Interviewed spectators and runners including Haile Gebrselassie, shortly after he dropped out of the 2007 race.
- The Sport Relief Mile Show – presenter, BBC1, March 2008.
- All Out For India – Jake visited India with a Celebrity Cricket XI, for a two part Sport Relief documentary in March 2006.

- Sportsround – presenter of live, Saturday morning sports show with topical news stories and interviews. Jake reported from major sporting events, which included the Commonwealth Games ‘06 from Melbourne, Winter Olympics ‘06 in Turin, World Cup ’06 from Germany and the 2007 Cricket World Cup from Antigua. 2005-2008.

- Rule the School – (BBC Scotland) presenter of first reality programme for children, where pupils swapped roles with their teachers. Nominated for children’s entertainment BAFTA 2003. March 02- 05 (four series).
- Against All Odds – (BBC Scotland) presenter of energetic ‘behind the scenes’ series, with dangerous stunts and reconstructions. Jake’s role involved intensive training with the Police, Paramedics, Red Cross & Life boat rescue team among others. The third series was filmed in various states across the USA.

- WRITING – Jake hosts a regular blog for the BBC F1 site. He also has his own weekly page in Match of the Day magazine and before this, wrote a monthly football column for Kick!. He also wrote a daily column on his experiences of the Beijing games for the London Metro Newspaper.
