Ray Parlour

The man tagged ‘Romford Pele’ by Marc Overmars, Ray Parlour, rose through the ranks and broke into the Arsenal side in January 1992 and remained at Highbury for 12 years making a total of 282 appearances for the London Club.

Whilst never a prolific goal scorer, when he did get on the score sheet, Parlour’s goals were often spectacular. Highlights during his career include a stunning hat-trick at Werder Bremen, another treble against Newcastle as well as scoring in the 2002 FA Cup final versus Chelsea.

Parlour won the Double twice with Arsenal, firstly in 1998 and again in 2002 before he left the club on a high note in the summer of 2004 after winning his third title as part of the team dubbed ‘The Invincibles’.

After leaving Arsenal, Ray signed for Middlesbrough in 2004, where he over 60 games in 2 years before a move to Hull City in 2007 where he helped the Tigers avoid relegation from The Championship.

Ray now works as a pundit for the likes of Sky Sports and Talk Sport, and is a very popular and humorous speaker on the After Dinner Circuit
