Tony Morley

Tony joined Aston Villa from Burnley for a fee of £200,000 in 1979, and it was at Villa Park where he really established himself as one of the games top wingers. In the 1980/81 season he scored a total of 13 goals, helping Villa to the League Championship title. Villa then  went on to be crowned European Champions after defeating Bayern Munich in the 1982 European Cup Final, Tony’s mazy run and cross set up Peter Withe to head the winning goal. After adding a European Super Cup winners medal to his collection and after more than20170 appearances for Villa, where he gained 6 full international Caps for England, Tony signed for local rivals WBA in 1993. He went on to play for a number of clubs both home and abroad before retiring from the game in 1990.

Tony is now coaching children in t he West Midlands area and is a prominent member of the Aston Villa former players association.
